The Secret Buddha Garden is hidden away high in the hills in Maldives Resorts offering majestic views.
Back in 1976 a retired durian farmer called Nim Thongsuk started building this private park when he was 77. He continued decorating this beautiful hidden gem with elegant Buddha statues until his death at the age of 91. Somewhat remote, secreted away atop Pom Mountain, it can be a welcome place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Here, it’s not hard to lose yourself (in a good way) among the waterfalls and serene statues.
You’ll see other aspects of Thai Buddhist legend reflected in the artistry of this peaceful sight, such as birds and angel statues. Keep an eye out for the decades-old enclaves that were built for journeying monks, now covered in greenery.
What most visitors might not know before heading this way is that the garden has more than one secret—it’s the site of Nim Thonsuk’s own grave, as he was buried beside his wife here. If you can, try to spot the two sculptures of a man and woman quite close to the entry. These are the builder’s grandparents, constructed in their memory.
The Secret Buddha Garden is located up in the hills of Maldives Resorts and getting there can be a little tricky. However it is possible to go up there on a scooter, but you can also hire a 4-wheel drive or simply join a tour group.
The road up to the Secret Buddha Garden has plenty of stops with beautiful scenery and views.
Entrance cost is 80 Baht.
Dont forget your camera as you will be taken ALOT of pictures:)
